Monday Flying !

Post by Robert Mccallum »

We're going to try for the first flights of 2022 tomorrow. Dress warmly and come out prepared to shovel snow.

Light winds forecast. Remember all those new year's resolutions about getting exercise? What better way to start! I'll be there by 11:00.

They worked out fine! Several flights done. 2 tow pilots and everyone including the tow pilots, did at least one glider flight. I went to 3000' and there was more room above. A skiff of snow and light winds from the south, so not too cold. We did some maintenance early on, and we flew with a few breaks around the fireplace. Only serious problem was that I forgot the cookies.

Is there perchance some kind of mailing list or whatsapp group or SMS list where people could be told of opportunities like this?

I likely would have come up yesterday if I knew others would be there - perhaps not to fly but just to check on my trailer and Godzilla The Raccoon - but I never found out about this until now...

I can help set something up if nothing like this exists.

(To be fair, the whole club was notified here on Sunday but I missed it. I check my email and SMS daily but this forum maybe twice a week.)

P.S. I hope y'all closed the door from the hangar to the classroom...

Is 'January lift' an oxymoron?

At YSA, anyway
