Fastest RC model is actually a glider going 548 MPH:

Turbine powered RC pilot: We go really, really fast.
Sailplane RC pilot: Hold my beer.

That was awesome. I've studied the concept of dynamic soaring, and I'm not convinced it would be of much practical use to a "real" glider. But to see it used like this was just... fascinating.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_soaring

In a nutshell, if you have still air below a boundary layer and moving air above it, you use the moving air to gain groundpeed, and return, after descending, in still air. The moving air is now a headwind, so you will gain speed. Every time you return from the still air below to the moving air above, it will be into a faster headwind, which you repeatedly turn into a tailwind with a high G turn. It's a pretty fascinating principle.
With grace and beauty, Strength and cunning She’ll stay aloft — until; Inevitably — she loses. And must glide earthward. And lie there helpless, Lovesick for the sky.

The guy who flown that glider also designed it (there is a very interesting TED talk that he did about it) put an accelerometer on the glider and it peaked at 120G which was the limit for that sensor

And that's what happens when things don't go well. ..
