Re: Four Bravo to the Cows

You put up a good fight Keith and your out landing was textbook. The conditions went to..... in very short order and left all of us in a pickle. I was within one turn for fifteen minutes of joining you. Thanks for letting me know the condition of the field. The information gave me the opportunity to...

Re: Sad News - Walter Chmela

We have lost so many of those early pioneers in the development of the sport and our enjoyment. I have known Walter from the late 70's. This one really sinks in and leaves a mark. He made the club one of the strongest of its kind. We all owe much to the man and his vision.

Re: 2-33 landing speed

It occurs to me you may be referring to landing in high winds when the direction of the wind is mostly at right angles to the airfield. We have had a lot of that so far this season. We still use the same formula in these cases even though there will be little to no headwind on final. This makes the ...

Re: 2-33 landing speed

I would agree. A (little) extra speed in a 2-33 is not a problem on normal approaches because of the huge amount of drag. It looses speed quickly after the flair. A held off landing is not a bad thing either, if you know how to handle the aircraft and unless you are not running out of runway. The co...

Re: 2-33 landing speed

Interesting discussion. Vso + .33 Vso = as close as does not mater, best L/D. That is on any aircraft I fly. I will leave it there. The question that trips many pilots up is approach speed on down wind landings. Another good question is, do you know the max cross wind component for your aircraft? Th...

Re: BAD PILOTS

I disagree. Too much attention is paid to which aircraft are left in which order. Rough guess most days the front third is pulled out regardless. There is no magic to the packing. It is care that counts and a small amount of observation when packing. We should all have that skill or be able to devel...

Re: BAD PILOTS

The last pilot in any plane should be responsible for making sure their plane is in the hangar before they leave, just as if it was their own plane. Planes do not have to wait until the end of the day in many cases. So before you leave check to see if there is another pilot for that plane. If not, a...
